Straight answers,
on the phone.
One child, one hour, one subject — quoted properly.
What it costs.
No booking fee, no lock-in contract, no term commitment. You pay per lesson.
Weekly tutoring
Four things set your number: your child’s year level; whether it is a tutor or a qualified teacher; how far the travel is; and how many lessons a week.
Most families land in the same range as a one-to-one lesson at a Canberra centre — the difference is that nobody has to get in the car. We quote once, on the phone, in about five minutes, and the number does not move afterwards.
What we can tell you now
The first assessment is free — a full hour with a qualified teacher, with a written report you keep either way.
There is no booking fee, no lock-in contract and no term commitment. You pay per lesson, and you can stop any time.
Tutoring starts at $80 an hour with a tutor. A qualified teacher is an option you can choose, not one we impose — and the free assessment is what turns that into an informed choice rather than a guess. What our number buys is one child, one hour, one subject, in your home, with the same checked person every week, and a qualified teacher available if the assessment says your child needs one.
If an assessment shows your child needs a teacher rather than a tutor, we will say so — and you are free to decline. We would rather lose the booking than take money for the wrong support.
Honestly
What sets
your number.
One child, one hour
Group programs advertise a lower weekly figure because your child is one of several in the room. That is a different product, not a cheaper version of this one.
Qualified, checked people
Every tutor holds current ACT WWVP registration and is reviewed fortnightly by a teaching staff member. That costs more than a roster of casuals.
We come to you
Travel time across Canberra is real. It is also the reason families choose us — no after-school drop-off, no car park, no screen unless you want one.
No contract to trap you
We would rather earn next week than lock you into a term. If it is not working, tell us and it stops.
Pricing questions
Frequently asked.
What does it cost?
Tutoring starts at $80 an hour with a tutor, in your home. A qualified teacher is an option you can choose rather than one we impose. What you actually pay turns on four things — your child’s year level, tutor or teacher, the travel, and how many lessons a week — so we quote it properly on the call once we know them, instead of publishing a number that turns out not to be yours.
Are there discounts for siblings or multiple lessons?
Ring and ask. It depends on scheduling — two lessons back to back in one home costs us less in travel, and we would rather pass that on than pretend it makes no difference.
How do I pay?
Invoiced per lesson through the parent portal, by direct debit or card. Nothing is charged before the free assessment.
What if we need to cancel a lesson?
Let us know and we will reschedule. Tutors hold their time for your child, so late cancellations are the one thing we ask you to avoid where you can.
The short version
Why families pick us.
Named among Canberra’s best
One of five tutoring services named in Region Canberra’s guide to the best tutors in Canberra, updated December 2025.
Teaching here since 2004
Twenty-two years in this city — long enough to have taught in the same college a parent went to, and to know which primary schools run which reading programs.
Checked twice, not once
Every tutor and teacher holds a current ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration, and everyone who crosses the border to Queanbeyan holds a NSW Working with Children Check as well. Ask for the number before the first lesson.
Qualified teachers, not only tutors
Most tutoring in Canberra is delivered by university students. We field both, and the free assessment decides which one your child actually needs.
A second opinion behind every tutor
Every tutor is reviewed fortnightly by a qualified teacher on staff, so if something is not working it surfaces in a fortnight rather than at the end of term.
An hour before you spend anything
A full 60 minutes with a qualified teacher, at your kitchen table, and a written report you keep whether or not you ever book a lesson.
